If you see this message, you are visiting a web page that didn't support shimejis. Most common case is that you are trying to call a shimeji from your Chrome Start Page, for example after opening a new tab, which is not possible. First navigate to a regular web site and then call a shimeji.
If your shimeji is visible but doesn't do anything, right-click on the shimeji and give a command. Choose "do things at random" to let the character move on its own.
Pick a shimeji from the shimeji directory and click the activate-button. A window will pop up where you need to sign in. Click on a lock to see how you can unlock a slot to activate multiple characters.
To turn off the extension temporarily you can click on the orange mushroom icon at the top-right cornor of Chrome (Icon not visible?) and than hit "Dismiss" to remove the shimejis from your screen.

No, the Shimeji Browser Extension is safe to use if downloaded properly from the Chrome Webstore. Though, on the internet there exist other software applications that do contain viruses. Sometimes people also talk about shimejis as it is a virus because characters will mesh around with your screen if you command them to do so.
When you have commanded shimejis to remove elements from the page, you have to refresh the page to get the elements back. You can also visit the site again.
First note that all shimejis are fanart, thus created by the users of the shimeji community, and not created by us. Therefore you can request a character but it is not guaranteed that it will be created eventually. Moreover it take a lot of time to create one. Nevertheless you can vote for your favorite character. See request a shimeji.
If you own a shimeji package that is not listed in the directory, we would love to add it. Right now, we are working on an upload system. Be patient until we have added that feature to the web site, so you will be able to upload it by yourself.
There is no easy or quick solution to create your own shimeji. If you are a skilled artist you maybe will be able to create your own. Right now, we are not able to help you. Please search the internet for tutorials. Anytime soon you will be able to submit a shimeji.
